A fine hardwood of Australian lineage, grown to maturity in the clean forests of southern Chile, and now offered back to the makers of the world, including the country it is named for. Blackwood is prized for its lustrous, richly figured grain.
Character
A golden-brown to deep reddish heartwood, often with striking fiddleback figure. Fine and lustrous, it machines and finishes to a high polish, the choice of furniture makers, luthiers and boat-builders.
